According to the Encyclopedia of Singapore, Denis Santry was born in Cork, Ireland in 1879, and was educated at the Royal College of Art. He arrived in Singapore in 1918 after building his career in South Africa.By 1924 he was a partner in the the well-known firm of Swan & Maclaren. The National Library has a small collection of photographs donated by his grandson.
His most well-known building is Sultan Mosque.
