First placed in Singapore: 2000

Very site specific, though in a way that opens an interesting contrast: the sculpture shows a behavior that would not be possible in this place, in so many ways. Hygiene, public order, etc... This implied transgression balances out the nostalgia in the work. Chong Fah Cheong has shown himself interested in such questions before - he did a series of sculptures that could be read as ironic representations of Singapore's public benches.
