Patron: donated by David Marshall to the Botanic Gardens, National Parks Board

One of three works by Sydney Harpley in the Botanic Gardens, all donated by David Marshall. This was the first work donated. From the Singapore Botanic Gardens' website [accessed January 10, 2009]: For this life-sized cast-bronze Girl on a Swing (1984), the sculptor used a local model dressed in the traditional sarong kebaya. The figure is so mounted as to give the impression of swinging out in mid-air over a bed of brightly-coloured flowering shrubs, creating overall an effect of great zest and freedom of movement.
