Shamsuddin H Akib

Born in Singapore, 1933. Self-taught, he had a long and successful career as a commercial artist. Was working as an artist for Papineau Advertising at the time he won the competition for the Paya Lebar airport murals. William Mundy was his boss at Papineau. He later worked for pioneering publisher Donald Moore, before continuing a freelance career well into his 60s. He was awarded the Singapore Design Golden Jubilee Award for Visual Communication in 2015.
