Creates a nice contemplative space along Elizabeth Walk. The granite blocks are nicely mute and powerful, with the strange code of the voids in their surface. It is impossible to really see the curve of the corten steel from the main vantage points (and not much easier to see when up close it must be said), but they work to frame the blocks. The details of the setting are not great, not least the placement of a trash can right next to the label on my visit in late 2020.

Public Art Trust Collection

“The Rising Moon” is an artistic reinterpretation of our national symbols — the five stars and crescent moon which are found on our national flag. The artwork is a reflection of the notion of nationhood and our timeless core values. It is also a tribute to the history and cultural memories that the river has played in Singapore's progress as a maritime nation.
The artwork is proudly sponsored by Marina Bay Sands and commissioned to commemorate Singapore's 50th birthday. It is one of the highlights of the Jubilee Walk.
