the Shanghai Oil Painting & Sculpture Research Institute

Founded in 1965 (under another name), this is a loose collective of mostly realist painters and sculptors. They do not do any teaching. Chen Yi-fei is perhaps the most famous of the members of this group. In Singapore, members of Institute undertook not one but two sculptures of Lim Nee Soon, pioneer of the Nee Soon neighborhood of Singapore, in what is portrayed as a collective effort. Among the artists who were named in connection with the first work were Chen Gu-Kui, Wang Zhi-Qiang and Wu Hui-Ming (sorry, only have Romanizations of their names).
