Entry and photos by Vanessa Yeo, Oct 2021: “A beautiful work by Han Sai Por which demonstrates her skilled handling of the hard marble medium. The curved lines that run across the spine of the spiral give the sculpture a sense of latent energy, as if if is in the midst of unfurling.” Thanks Vanessa!

Cultural Medallion winner Han Sai Por is recognised as one of Singapore's leading sculptors.
Her works have been exhibited around the world in countries such as Japan, South Korea, Canada and Denmark. This installation epitomises her signature monumental composition, representing organic forms carved in her favourite medium of marble. The Tropical Leaf weighs 11 tons, yet invokes organic forms from a huge block of marble, creating a beautiful work of art. The energetic lines, movement and voids of this sculpture were inspired by the unique design of tropical leaves.
Commissioned by One Raffles Quay and presented by Deutsche Bank as an artwork for the public, The Tropical Leaf encapsulates the appreciation of the delicate balance of nature in an urban environment.
